April 27, 1946

(Chicago Tribune) - Operation of the Drake Hotel, which has been under lessee management for the last 10 years, will be resumed by its owners May 1, Edwin L. Brashears, president of the hotel, said yesterday.

A renovation program calling for expenditure of more than $600,000 will be started immediately after the change of management, Brashears said.  Included will be the refurnishing of 93 percent of the guest rooms and suites.

Benjamin H. Marshall, Jr., son of the architect, builder, and former co-operator of the hotel, will be vice president, and will take an active part in the hotel’s operation.
