SEEK TO ANNEX SITE FOR DRAKE NORTH HOTEL

October 10, 1957

(Chicago Tribune) - A petition to annex to Chicago a tract near O’Hare field containing the 15.8 acre site of the Drake North Hotel was filed last week in County court.

The Drake Hotel Company expects to build the hotel 1,200 feet west of Cumberland Avenue on the south side of Higgins Road, according to Edwin L. Brashears, president, and Samuel W. Bailey, secretary, of the Drake North.

Bailey said the hotel will have 120 rooms arranged in a four story building flanked with two story cottages.  Estimated cost is 2.2 million dollars.  Since plans were announced last December, more meeting rooms have been included, said Bailey.
