James M. McGinn, Phillips Martin Real Estate

James McGinn formed the Phillips Martin Partnership in 1983 with Stanley Brashears.  Together they established Phillips Martin Management, Inc. in 1986 and Phillips Martin Real Estate, Inc. for which Mr. McGinn has served as President since 1989.  These entities are jointly owned with his Partner, Stanley Brashears, for the purpose of acquiring, managing, developing or selling commercial and residential properties whether purchased by Phillips Martin or a third party.  In the last 28 years the Phillips Martin entities have been responsible for Real Estate transactions totaling more than $900 million.

Mr. McGinn has been the Treasurer and a Director of the National Realty and Investment Company (NRIC) since 1991.  National Realty and Investment Company is a Delaware Corporation formed in 1930 by Edwin L. Brashears, Sr.  NRIC maintains interests in various commercial properties including the Drake Hotel Chicago since 1937.

In addition, Mr. McGinn is a Director and Treasurer of Iroquois Club, Inc. the entity which developed, owns and manages a 385,000 square foot, 272 unit apartment building located on 16 acres in Naperville, Illinois since 1983.

Mr. McGinn received a Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A) from Loyola University of Chicago.  He also received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Finance (emphasis in real estate) from Northern Illinois University.  Mr. McGinn is a licensed real estate broker in the State of Illinois.

Mr. McGinn is or has been a General Partner of Naper Point Land Partnership, Greenbriar Partners, Greenbriar Place Limited Partnership, BB&A Venture, Maple Square Limited Partnership and Park Boulevard Limited Partnership he is also the managing member of Courtyard, LLC, Irving 1640, LLC, Superior 160, LLC, Butterfield 1341, LLC, Ogden 1230, LLC, Iroquois Club Condominiums, LLC, and Greenbrier Place Condominiums, LLC.  Mr. McGinn is or has been an Officer of Iroquois Club, Inc. and Naper Point Land, Inc.

 

Stanley P. Brashears, Phillips Martin Real Estate

Mr. Brashears is an owner and officer of Phillips Martin Real Estate, Phillips Martin Management and the Phillips Martin Partnership.  He founded Phillips Martin with his partner, James McGinn in 1983 to develop two multi-story apartment communities consisting of 354 units in Naperville and Glen Ellyn, Illinois positioned for conversion to condominiums.  In addition, Phillips Martin developed other properties including 162 East Superior in Chicago.  The company also secures debt and equity to acquire various properties through limited liability corporations like Courtyard, LLC which was sold in 2007.

Since 1991, Mr. Brashears has served as the President and Secretary of National Realty and Investment Company and was elected to the Board of Directors in 1985.  National Realty has maintained interests in various agricultural and commercial properties including the Drake Hotel Chicago which National Realty owned and operated for over 40 years until executing an unsubordinated, reversionary ground lease in 1979.  Mr. Brashears represents the fee simple interest of the Landlord in the Drake lease and has been the President and Secretary of Iroquois Club Associates since 1991.

Mr. Brashears began working at the Drake Hotel at age 15 and returned to an administrative position at the hotel after attending Cornell University.  In 1979, he left the hotel business to participate in the development, lease up and management of the Drake Oak Brook Office Plaza.  He later represented National Realty’s Joint Venture Equity Interest with Traveler’s Insurance Company in selling the 250,000 Sq. Ft. office building to the Illinois Municipal Worker’s Pension Fund for $40 Million in 1990.  Mr. Brashears is the Managing Broker of Phillips Martin Real Estate and is a licensed Real Estate Broker in the state of Montana.
